The University of Siena is one of the oldest universities in Europe. Its history has evolved alongside Tuscany’s cultural tradition since the Middle Ages.

Accommodation: in Siena there are different housing options, from university halls of residence to private location (individual/shared apartments or single/double rooms). The best way to find an appropriate accommodation is to look for a room in Siena after your arrival, with the support of the orientation offices.
The university canteens are run by the DSU-Toscana (Regional Authority for Higher Education Grants),which offers students low cost, complete meals, with a varied menu. In order to have access to university canteens, students need a smart card issued upon enrolment.
In collaboration with the Regional Authority for Higher Education Grants (Azienda Regionale per il Diritto allo Studio Universitario – ARDSU) and Siena University Sports Centre (CUS), the University promotes sports for students by offering courses for free or at reduced rates in: basketball, football, volleyball, rugby, judo, weight training, fencing and tennis.
Erasmus Student Network (ESN) Siena is a non-profit international student organization. Their mission is to represent international students, thus providing opportunities for cultural understanding and self-development under the principle of Students Helping Students.
The Buddy System is a programme promoted by the University of Siena in collaboration with ESN Siena GES, trough which incoming exchange students are matched with students of the University of Siena.
The main purpose of this programme is to assist exchange students with practical information on living and studying in Siena and to facilitate their integration in the Italian academic life and the student community.
